Astros Excitement

So we recently got to go to Phoenix with a group of people that John works with to see the Houston Astros play the Arizona Diamondbacks. Needless to say, the entire population of people there were D'backs fans . . . with the exception of us and a few others. It was a good game, we ate a lot of junk food and spent lots of money . . . AND the ASTROS WON!! (Of course, it's always better if your team wins!) That Chase Field is one beautiful stadium . . . or whatever you call it! We certainly had fun. ENJOY!!!

Summer Fun

Well, this is what summer is all about!! We sold our dining room furniture and so the dining room has been the perfect place to build forts!!! This is the latest and greatest fort to be built by two boys without anything better to do. I tried to take a picture from every side of the "round" fort. They have one section that has two, separate sleeping "rooms" in it. They are very proud of this fort. Now we will have memories of it forever!!! ENJOY!!!

The Donkey

So, thought I'd add these cute pictures of Mac and John with Speedy the Donkey. There really isn't too much to say, except that this is one funny donkey. Speedy really likes peppermints. It's too bad that there wasn't a picture of him with his tongue hanging out ready for the peppermint. It's the funniest thing to see. I've never seen a donkey stick his tongue out like Speedy can. He's amazing!! Oh well, at least we'll have these memories of him! ENJOY!!

Thought for the Day

I thought I would give you something to think about . . . I don't know if this is an original thought or if it came from somebody famous, but my good friend Leslie had this to say . . . and I think I should make it into something so we can remember it. It's good for the . . .
Thought for the Day!
Thoughts become words
Words become actions
Actions become character
Character is EVERYTHING!!!
Enjoy!!!

Baseball 2009

Baseball season is now over for our Little League team. Mac played with the Cardinals. He was on an expansion team - meaning they hadn't had the Cardinals in the Major's level until this year. They were not a team that had played together yet. (The other teams just got to draft players to replace kids that left last year by age or whatever. Our team drafted everyone! The other teams had played together previously.) Anyway, we ended up with a scrappy little team! We had a winning season. 12 wins 10 losses. :o) The kids really had fun. I think that the Cardinals will even be better next year . . . we'll have to keep up with the players and see how they do. Mac will certainly miss playing with them. Anyway . . . here's the pictures from the season!! ENJOY!

(Oh . . . I've now learned how to use the scanner so I added the two pictures at the top! Cool, huh?! Wow . . . this computer really can work wonders, I think??? One more side note . . . I was told that if you "click" on whatever picture it gets bigger. This really works!! Just a helpful hint that I didn't know about!!)

Big Golf Tournament

Well, Mac has been taking golf lessons during the past school year. During lessons he hits a ton of balls at the driving range. What he really enjoys is the times he gets to go out on the golf course with his instructor and hit the holes (or balls). He has even played a few times with John. Last Tuesday, he finally got an opportunity to see what it would be like to play in a tournament for real. He did very well. (Well, with the execption of the first hole of his very first tournament!) He really decided to get the most for his money on that one . . . he GOT to hit the ball 16 times! :o) He calmed down after that and even got par on a hole - which means he got what you're supposed to get . . . and a birdy on a hole - which means he got one under par. His instructor said he did well, he thought he did well, and we thought he did well. But most of all, he said it was really fun! So . . . there you have it! ENJOY!!!

Blast from the Past

Just thought I'd show you some pictures from our trip out west. (I do realize that these are older pictures) . . . but some of you may not have realized that we got to see all things Elvis on our way to Arizona. Here's just two pictures of our adventure there. There were tons and tons of costumes to see and lots and lots of cars/motorcycles as well. We all thought it was amazing that Graceland, the house, didn't seem any bigger than it was. It also isn't in a very good part of town - at least now. However, it was fun to see a little bit of our history here in America. Not to mention . . . I LOVED the quote above!!! ENJOY

A New Haircut

Well, here is the follow-up to the last blog. Katelyn got a new haircut that can be styled either wavy or straight. When it's straight, she really likes the fact that you can see the "stripes". She was thrilled with the outcome, and I must add, I think it's beautiful, too. It suits her perfectly. Once again . . . it's hard to believe how mature she's getting. Just thought I'd show you the end result! ENJOY!!!

Locks of Love

Well, here are some pictures from May 2006. Katelyn got a haircut today, and I thought of when she donated her hair to Locks of Love. This was her second time to donate. The first donation came in May of 2004 - but I don't have digital pictures of that time. Both times we were ready to move. It's funny how things happen the same. She probably could have done the 10 inches again this time, but decided not to get that much cut off, although, she came close. It's nice that she's been willing to give her beautiful hair to some child that doesn't have any due to illness. I figure that's pretty cool!! And how lucky for these kids to get real hair and feel a little better about themselves. Just thought I'd add a bit of history to the blog today!! (By the way, if you want more information on Locks of Love . . . go to www.LocksofLove.org.)
Thanks, Katelyn . . . and ENJOY!!!

A Cute Kid Story

A mom was concerned about her kindergarten son walking to school. The boy didn't want his mother to walk with him. She wanted to give him the feeling that he had some independence but yet know that he was safe. Well, she had an idea of how to handle it. The mom asked a neighbor if she would please follow him to school in the mornings, staying at a distance, so he probably wouldn't notice her. The neighbor said that since she was up early with her toddler anyway, it would be a good way for them to get some exercise as well, so she agreed.
The next school day, the neighbor and her little girl set out following behind Timmy as he walked to school with another neighbor girl he knew. She did this for the whole week. As the two children walked and chatted kicking stones and twigs, Timmy's little friend noticed the same lady was following them as she seemed to do every day all week. Finally the friend said to Timmy, 'Have you noticed that lady following us to school all week? Do you know her?' Timmy nonchalantly replied, 'Yeah, I know who she is.' The little girl said, 'Well, who is she?' 'That's just Shirley Goodnest,' Timmy replied, 'and her daughter Marcy.' 'Shirley Goodnest? 'Why is she following us?' asked the girl.
'Well,' Timmy explained, 'Every night my Mom makes me say the 23rd Psalm with my prayers, 'cuz she worries about me so much. And in the Psalm, it says, 'Shirley Goodnest and Marcy shall follow me all the days of my life', so I guess I'll just have to get used to it!'
The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make His face to shine upon you, and be gracious unto you; the Lord lift His countenance upon you, and give you peace.
May Shirley Goodnest and Marcy be with you today and always.
I know you smiled! I sure did.

ENJOY!!!

WOOF!!! Antenna the dog speaks!!

Antenna here . . . these human owners of mine wouldn't let me write about myself on the blog until I persuaded them. I am excited about seeing Grandma and Grandpa this summer, they spoil me in Oklahoma. I can't wait to see them! I also am really excited about going to Germany since miniature schnauzers originate from Germany. I know that those Germans take their dogs everywhere. (Maybe my owers will take me with them to other places instead of me just staying home.) I am sad about leaving here because of my friends Chui and Oliver and also Merle. I will wonder who will talk to them when I am gone? It might get kinda quiet around here. I have really liked Arizona because of the BIG backyard - it is very fun to run outside and explore new things. (and BARK!) That is all I have to say for now.

A New Design!

So . . . here it goes . . . I have been trying to figure out how so many of the blogs I see have cute "paper" in the background. Everytime I have tried to change ours, it just gives me different color choices. Anyway . . . my friend, and designer next door, has figured it out! So . . . that is how you are seeing something different here on the Capers of the Cox Clan! Thank you Ann!! The world needs to see different pages every now and then. (Now I just need to have her come over and help me pick out matching colors for the things on the side, etc. I really did try to get the browns to match, but I couldn't make it work . . . just pretend that it matches for now!) I'm here to tell you that there is a lot of clicking and copying that goes on to make this the most beautiful thing that you see everyday! :o) Well . . . not really . . . but for people like me that aren't really "computer people" . . . it can be difficult! Anyway, hope you like the new design!! ENJOY!!!
