Another Cool Invention

So . . . You know I put the really cool toilet cleaner on right after we got here? Well, I've found something else to add. I thought this was a really very sanitary way to use paper towels and not to have the trash and filth all on the floor and filling up trash cans. I wondered how the paper towels got clean after using them and then figured it out! There must be a huge roll inside the machine that is eventually taken out and thrown away. This way, you're always getting new "cloth". (And it really is a cloth, not a paper towel!) Cool, huh?!

Gasthaus Cox

Just so you know . . . the Cox house has now become "Gasthaus Cox" hosting a new feline member of society. (You've seen pictures of our backyard, right?! Well, remember it's huge, and apparently we have had a few kittens living here.) Anyway . . . our Chaplain has wanted a kitten/cat since his family is staying back in the states. He has been wanting some company. Well . . . we got some "company" for him last night. This kitty is so very, very cute and has blue eyes. I know this picture is not very good . . . but it's NOT our cat and we are NOT going to get attatched to it. However, the Chaplain is TDY until the 5th of October, so kitty is staying here at Gasthaus Cox until he returns. (Don't worry Antenna . . . she is NOT going to live here - in fact she is "stuck" in the empty office without free roaming of the house!) She really does have blue eyes and white paws. We would like to be able to name her - since she's our first houseguest. However, we haven't been able to come up with something so if you have ideas . . . send them on! (Anything signal or kitty cute is fine with us!) We'll keep you posted . . .

Not What You Expected?!

Okay??? Are you surprised?? You probably thought you'd see pictures of all our things put away nicely here in Germany, ready for you to visit . . . NO - in fact the SHIPS carrying them haven't even arrived yet. (Yes, that's right, I said shipS!) Supposedly, 1/18 of our crates have arrived. The rest are on 2 other ships. We're not too certain of when they'll be here, but it won't be by the date we were "promised" like the Blog says. I'll have to start a new countdown showing how long over they are. Oh well . . . just gives us more excuses to keep wearing the same clothing day after day since June! Ho Hum!! I just thought I'd show you something that you probably thought you'd never see coming from our pictures. I did some planting! (I have done it a few times in the past, but it's really NOT my passion . . .) I have been fortunate to have the help of my neighbor who does really know what's going on the the "green" world. I got all kinds of plant that should live through the winter and continue to thrive all year long. (We'll see if that happens! And even have proof now with the pictures!) I thought you'd enjoy some brightness from this part of the world . . .

ENJOY!!!

Wait and See!!!

Just want to let you know . . . you should definitely check back here tomorrow and see something super-fantasitc and extraordinary that's happened around here. You'll never believe it if you don't see it for yourself. Just you wait and see . . .

A Sunny Day in Germany

Well, my new neighbor and friend came by this past Saturday when I was out in the yard and asked what we were going to be doing to enjoy the sunny day in Germany. I told her we didn't really have plans . . . so she helped us make some! We decided to enjoy the warmth of the sun and get some Vitamin D. A hike through the vineyards eating grapes was exactly what we needed. We went to the Niederwald Monument (pictures of that for next time) and then hiking down the hillside in the vineyards above the Rhine River. Our journey ended up in Assmannshauser Hollenberg where we caught a cute cable car (like a ski lift) back to the Monument for our cars. Even though the kids from both families didn't want to participate in the supposed "death march" hike they ended up enjoying themselves and the sunshine!! There will be more pictures posted soon.

Ellie . . . Antenna's Friend

Just so you know . . . this is Antenna's friend, Ellie. She injured herself this past week on our morning walk. (She pulled her toenail right off in a grate!) She's a beautiful, slim and very fast greyhound that is known to everyone as the princess. (That is truly what she is . . .) She now has to wear this - not too particularly cute - wrap on her paw until she gets checked out again. Ellie was hilarious at the German vet clinic - she didn't want to lay down on the cold floor. She sat there for a while and then decided it would be better to be on the scale. It truly was cute. (I serectly know that Ellie is glad that Antenna isn't here yet, since now she's not allowed to run for a little while . . . until the nail heals!) She's on the mend, which is good, and I now know how to get to the cleanest, most beautifully appointed German vet clinic around, in case our Antenna has an emergency.

We Did It!

Just so you know . . . We did it!! We got to Rothenburg!! It was fabulous . . . it was fun . . . it was everything we wanted it to be and more! I'll post pictures and let you know everything we did tomorrow. (Our internet has been down since last night, and since it's just now back on . . . I don't want to "hog" it!) Hopefully, I'll keep you on the edge of your seat, wondering what all we found so fabulous . . . more later . . .

Friends

Well . . . since most of our fans are friends from the past . . . I thought I'd post a picture of two fabulous girls. We have been thrilled to be reacquainted with friends of ours from another duty station. That, I must say, is one really cool thing about the military. You never know who you will be stationed with next. We are very happy to have our old friends here. Maddy has made it a smoother transition for Katelyn and Mac and the three of them never cease to have fun when they are together. I think this picture of the girls is just soooooo sweet!!

Somewhere Over the Rainbow

Well, just so you know . . . it's beautiful over here!!! There was a bit of a sprinkle last night and we saw a double rainbow to add even more beauty. (Once again, my photography doesn't do it justice!) I say, everywhere you look, you really do see something "schon" . . . that's German for beautiful. (See, I'm smart, too!) I just thought I'd let you know that we are getting to live in a truly beautiful place!! (Also, check out the weather girl - she's cute today in rain gear!!) Now . . . remind me of this when I get sick and tired of this kind of weather! :o)
ENJOY!!!
