Our Entry Way Inside

So this is just inside the front door on one side wall. There's a 4 foot long hallway with the guest bathroom off of it. I had fun with my friend, Deb, hanging all these different Americana "treasures". (For those of you who know Deb, you know it was fun since she doesn't like a lot of "things" on the walls. We had fun picking through tons of choices.
The other side of the wall.

Over the door frame - looking into the kitchen thru another "entry hall."
You can see that one in the next post . . . remember, I'm pacing you!
ENJOY!!!

Dining Room & Family Room

So, here's the view standing in front of the famous "chicken chairs". I guess they're officially in the dining room - but I'm not even really certain that's true. Remember it's still a work in progress, so things are changing daily. However, we do have Antenna's bed ready! (See it under the church pew???) Oh and where did the fireplace go???? I wonder?
A view of the piano and antique secretary that now is holding Americana stuff . . . not enough room for the grandmother's silver. Oh well . . . maybe next move.

One of the interesting things about this picture is the small table to the left of the secretary. It holds all the TV equipment, phone and computer router . . . Now're we're really having to live wirelessly. (Oh and where did the door to the backyard go?? I wonder???)

A view from the family room.

A view of the dining room looking into the kitchen. (Thank goodness we sold our dining room set and haven't gotten another one yet - there's no room!)

The sideboard from Fort Huachuca. :o)

Standing in the kitchen looking over the bar.

Still in the kitchen - notice the little antique rocker is coming in handy as a purse holder. :o)

The antique wine barrel from here in Germany that I wanted to match the tequila barrel. YEA! (There's no room for a glass top for it now, but one day, it will make a great pub table with the tequila barrel next to it holding the drinks! Dream on . . .)

So that's it for now with another posting of "home pictures". You can stop me now, if you want . . . or come back tomorrow for the entry way!
ENJOY!!!

Wiesbaden Homecoming

Azana, Andrea, Katelyn, Maddy, Teah Well . . . last weekend was homecoming for Wiesbaden High School. Katelyn and her group of girlfriends decided a few weeks back to attend the "big dance" together. (It's funny - they're still the group that I spoke of earlier from the first day of school that ate lunch together . . . they're still having lunch and they're still hanging out. The remarkable thing is . . . they're all new kids to the high school this year.) Anyway, they had a good time. They met before the dance for pictures and then went to a restaurant for pasta or pizza. They stayed until the very end of the dance. (I don't know who had more fun . . . them or Maddy's mom and I watching all the kids coming out of the dance and seeing how they were all dressed!) They all seemed to have a wonderful time and now have created another high school memory!

Favorite Food

So . . . today after church we decided to venture out on our own and find a great place to eat. We were successful in our findings!! We found our favorite type of food - Mexican!! This restaurant was even started by a family with the name of Ramirez - pretty authentic, huh! (They're even from San Antonio, Texas!!) What more could we ask for?! Well, kids eat free on Sunday, so Mac was cheap enough. The rest of us just had normal, regular Mexican food complete with rice and beans . . . The pricetag was high, but it was worth every penny! Here it was $63. (They included the equal dollar amount on the bill . . . why, I'm not sure - maybe to scare us off!) In the states the same meal would have been right at $30. Amazing, is all I can say. Just thought I'd show some of the pics we took before anyone else came in. Fabulous that I've learned to use the timer on the camera, now maybe we can all be in the pictures!
More pictures of the house tomorrow . . . just to keep you wondering . . .
ENJOY!!

The Kitchen

Well, here are the pictures of the kitchen. This is the "bar" side of the kitchen. You can see it's set up for all the "desk" activities . . .
This is looking into the kitchen from bar side. The door to the backyard is on the left and on the right is the doorway to the entry hall. (Notice the orange halloween bowl - I won that at the luncheon this past week . . . lucky girl!)

This is the stove and the counter area around to the fridge.

This is the counter area to the left of the stove with the kitchen window and then sink/dishwasher to the left. (Notice you can't see the garbage disposal - oh that's right, we don't have one!!!)

Another shot of the "bar" side with the dining room window showing just a bit.

Here's the water dispenser . . . with the doorway to the entry hall right to the left of it.

So . . . that' the kitchen. Now, I realize that it is no where near as large as the last one we had with tons and tons of space and even a separate room for food. We are learning to just go to the commissary more frequently - since there isn't room to store food, and we've learned to stack dishes, really well. It's all good.
Now for one last notice on the friendly blog . . . I'm trying to just put a few pictures each day because I realize that my group of friends and family has high expectations for me . . . everyone seems bummed when they can't know what we're up to . . . so, I'm going to pace y'all. Just a bit each day, how about that?!
ENJOY!!!

Our New Home

Our family room - notice how cozy it is!!!

Our South American Guest Bathroom. See how large it is???

The toilet is right below this with the red rug is right under it, so it's really festive!

The tiny medicine cabinet with all the "stuff" below on the ledge. Notice the red contact paper all along the walls in the bathroom to hide the tile decoration that the tiles had - some victorian fans or something like that! (YUCK!)
See the cute, shining star??? Thanks to Ron, it lights up and is very, very beautiful . . . especially at night.

Here's another view of the family room - the one thing I want to point out is that I put that standing lamp together while on skype with Eileen - what a puzzle it was . . . but I was successful!!!

(It's the little things!)

Well, I'll try to add more pictures when I take them. Maybe the dining room and kitchen will come tomorrow . . . I want to pace you all. :o)
ENJOY!!!

Password Anyone??

BLOND PASSWORD
During a recent password audit, it was found that a blonde
was using the following password:
"MickeyMinniePlutoHueyLouieDeweyDonaldGoofy"
When asked why such a big password,
she said that it had to be at least 8 characters long.
Just in case some of you needed a new password! :o) A friend sent this email today, and I thought it was great!! Just a quick word from me . . . I'll promise to post pictures of the house tomorrow . . . most of the boxes are gone and most of the pictures are hung. It's been exhausting, but worth the work to have our "treasures" around us!
ENJOY!!!

Domane Mechtildshausen Tour

The day after our Household Goods arrived, I went on an already scheduled tour of the farm across the street. It was a gloomy day, but we had fun walking in the mud and learning a little more about our nearby surroundings. (By the way, some of you will notice the two ladies in the pictures with me also lived at Fort Huachuca, but not all of us there at the same time - small world, huh?!)

ENJOY!!!

Happy 16th Birthday to Katelyn

The cake was supposed to look like a camera since that's what Katelyn was getting instead of a car . . . there was lots of fun had in making this beautiful, licorice trimmed cake. Katelyn's friend, Maddy and her mom and my friend Deb helped make the cake in secret. We laughed and laughed and had tons of fun . . . the unfortunate thing is that now we know that everyone here in Germany will want us to decorate their cakes for them.
So . . . we started October 9th off by having a pancake breakfast in the fabulous, clean unpacked - NOT - house of Cox. Katelyn got to celebrate her birthday with Sam, one of Mac's old friends from the War College in Carlisle. Katelyn and Sam share October 9th birthdays. :o)
The birthday girl with her mom.
Opening presents! YEA!
A fabulous camera - I'm sure pictures will come soon . . .

A surprise Mexican themed 16th party at her friend Maddy's house! Katelyn had no idea . . . she thought the girls were all meeting to go to a football game in another German town. She was very shocked and surprised!
Present time . . .
Birthday wish time . . .
ENJOY!!!

A Long Long Twelve Hours!!!

So, I have tried to write something to describe each picture. This is how our day has ended, but as you scroll down, you see the entire 12 hours . . . almost exactly. It's now 10:38 and I started uploading pictures around 10:20. So . . .
ENJOY!!!

The office. Notice there is NO desk, but there is a couch on the opposite wall. Now, this is interesting, you say?? There was NO WAY to get it down in the basement, so here is where it went - and in through the window, to boot!

Needless to say, no where to put anything!
And, oh by the way, the carpets came in the LAST crate - so they will be put down later!

I guess that Kate Gosselin was the one in charge.
Go figure!
I didn't realize that the Gosselin's had another job. I mean, I know they have "cancelled" their show . . . for a while anyway, but furniture movers????

What it looked like from 8:30 to 10:45 or so.
(We were happy that they were able to pick up the temporary furniture before the rest of our things came. Others haven't been so lucky.
Wow . . . I bet I could make some money if I sold that table! :o) Funny, huh?!
This is looking in to the kithen. Certainly not the huge one we came from! :o( See what it's like living without lots of furniture to put all your things in and on??? It's a good thing this place has nice window ledges . . .

Sometimes we turned the "club" chairs around to face the TV which was borrowed from neighbors.
What our quarters have looked like since August 11. This is the temporary furniture that was picked up this morning.

We'll See???!!!

Well . . . we're waiting and waiting and waiting . . . our stuff is supposed to be here today!! Can you believe it? We're anxiously awaiting our household goods to arrive - late, but better late than never . . . Remember back to the blog posting with all those crates? Well, that's what we're waiting for. We'll keep you posted . . . but it's 10:18 in the morning and the house it empty still. :o) (Not too good of a sign!) Stay tuned . . .
ENJOY!!!

Teeth Cleaning

Well, everyone wants to know what we're up to . . . we've all been to the dentist so we won't look like the fellow in the picture!!! Katelyn and Mac even got new sealants so they for sure won't! Everyone got an A+ from the new hygenists so we're good to go for 6 more months! Other than that, we are just counting down the last few days that Katelyn will be 15! I keep telling her that it's the "last Sunday you'll be 15 . . . etc, etc . . . " She just looks at me like I'm being silly, which, I am! We are also counting down the days for our furniture and clothes to arrive. We are now planning on Wednesday. We will keep you posted . . .
So . . . just remember to brush your teeth and go to the dentist every 6 months!
(That's the public service announcement for today!) :o)
ENJOY!!!

An Unexpected Sad Day!

Well, we knew the day would come . . . we knew that kitty wasn't ours to keep . . . we knew all this, but our hearts still felt a little empty last night when we knew that the kitty was going to her new home. The Chaplain came back and was very excited to have his new pet that he went shopping for all new kitty stuff and then asked to come by and take her home. I am so glad she's got someone to watch over her and keep her safe, but was sad that she wasn't going to keep us company anymore. She climbed right in the new crate and kinda smiled at us when he took her out the door. (I may get to see her this next week if he's not able to take her to her vet appointment, but other than that, our relationship being foster kitty family is over.) I guess the doors to Gasthaus Cox are closed until you real people decide to come!!!
ENJOY!!!
